Alice M. Barnes, 74, of Osceola, died on November 15, 2018.  She was born in Durand, Michigan on November 23 1943 to Clifford and Leona (Walker) Wooden.  After graduating from High School, Alice went on to earn her Bachelor of Science degree in Humanities and worked as a Librarian for Notre Dame, retiring in 2006.  On December 10, 1995, Alice married Val Barnes and he survives.  Alice attended the Calvary Bible Church in Dowagiac, Michigan and enjoyed quilting, music, and was an avid reader.  In the Northland Baptist Bible Church, the children's wing is named "The Alice Barnes Children's Wing".  Alice is survived by her children, Jerry (Charlene) Toomey, Cindy (Andy) Horvath, Jodie (John Semala) Wells, and Penny (Patrick) Owens; son-in-law, Tom Mertz; 13 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Beverly (Leonard) Weens, Walter (Donna) Wooden, and Barbara (Robert) Vickroy.  She was preceded in death by her parents; and a daughter Anita Mertz.  Friends and family will be received on Monday, November 26, 2018 from 1-2 PM in the Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola, IN  46561 with a service in Alice's honor beginning at 2 PM.  Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Calvary Bible Church, Anchor Bible Camp, 27032 Marcellus Hwy, Dowagiac, MI 49047.
