Alice O. Barnett, age 83, of Mishawaka, Indiana passed away Saturday, October 22, 2011 at her residence. Alice was born June 2, 1928 to the late Ralph and Edna (Gambill) Futrell in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Alice married James T. Barnett on April 20, 1948. He preceded her in death, passing away May 25, 1997.
Surviving are her sons, Thomas Barnett of Mishawaka, Indiana, and Dale (Bobbie) Barnett of Ravenden, Arkansas. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren; Amanda Barnett, Monica (David) Crow, Rebecca (Matt) Schols, and Jason Nixon, as well as 3 great-grandchildren, Brayden, Colton, and Marina. Alice is also survived by her sisters, Dorothy (Ronald) Smith of Nashville, Indiana, and Eunice (Melvin) Hickman of Jonesboro, Arkansas, along with several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was her brother Riley Futrell, and sister Willie-Bell Stooksberry.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the 10:00 am Funeral Service on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola, Indiana. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Alice was employed as an operator for Indiana Bell for several years. She then was employed by the School City of South Bend in the cafeteria for many years until her retirement. She was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church, and enjoyed spending time outdoors tending to her flower gardens.
