Alvera R. Wheeler, 85, formerly of Elkhart, IN passed away on July 1, 2023 in Peachtree City, GA. She was born on April 3, 1938 to Vernon and Lucille (Tharp) Sysinger. She was preceded in death by a son, Christopher Curwin, and her husband, Ralph Wheeler.

Alvera is survived by her children: Valeria Curwin, Randy (Brenda Fredericks) Curwin, and Vickie Akin; 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren: Sheena Frazer, Phillip Akin, Jacob Akin, Alec Krilis, Lia Krilis, Whitney Curwin and Brooke Curwin; a brother, LaVern (Sharon) Sysinger; and a sister, Joan (Leonard) Forreider.

Alvera was a Sales Associate at Sears in Pierre Moran Mall for many years. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and enjoyed traveling. Lovingly, her life centered around her family which she enjoyed playing cards and board games with, especially when she won! She made sure to attend every wedding and graduation, and was devoted to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Friends may visit with the family on Friday July 14, 2023 from 5-7 PM at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Hwy., Osceola, IN. A Funeral Service in her honor will be held on Saturday July 15, 2023, 10 AM. Pastor Bob Vale will officiate. Entombment will immediately follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
