Alvin Lee "Al" Irion, age 73 of Elkhart, Indiana passed away Friday, January 11, 2013 at Elkhart General Hospital. Al was born October 11, 1939 in Stockton, California to the late Elmer and Linda (Baragno) Irion. He served his country honorably in the US Air Force where he was an airplane mechanic. During his enlistment, he met Joan Hutchcraft at Grissom Air Force Base in Peru, Indiana. They were married on March 15, 1959 in Winamac, Indiana.

Joan survives, along with their daughters Sherry (Nick) Krcelich of Granger, Indiana and Wendy (Martin) Andrade of Elkhart. Also surviving are five grandchildren; Brittany and Ashley Hopman, Alexis, Brianna and Martin "Junior" Andrade. Al is also survived by his brothers Elmer (Janet) Irion Jr. and Jerry (Pam) Irion, both of Stockton, California. He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Linda Irion.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 pm Monday, January 14, 2013 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola, where the rosary will be recited at 7:30 pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 am Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church in Elkhart with Rev. Glenn Kohrman presiding. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.

Al was the founder and owner of ALCO Tool Supply for over 20 years until the sale of the business in 1993. He then opened JMI Tool Supply in Wakarusa and worked with the business several years until his illness forced his retirement. Al loved his business, and created and patented the "I Love My Job" logo. He was also a longtime member of St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church.
