Arthur Ray Palmer, Sr., 67, of South Bend, passed away at 2:11 pm, Saturday, October 12, 2013 in Memorial Hospital. Arthur was born on December 30, 1945, the son of the late Ray C. and Louise (Leonard) Palmer. On June 10, 1967, he married Paula Fannin. He is survived by his wife, Paula; five children, Rebecca Smith of Texas, Arthur Palmer, Jr. of Cortland, NY, Keith (Erika) Palmer of South Bend, Ray Palmer of Niles, and Susan (Noel) Zamora of South Bend; nine grandchildren, Randi Woodham-Palmer, Justin Palmer, Katie palmer, Nick Cheney, Lacie Palmer, Dakota Palmer, Daniel Rajski, Thorin Palmer and Thayne Palmer; and one great grandson, Riley Rose. He is also survived by his sister, Patty Palmer of South Bend, nephew Kyle Palmer of South Bend and brother in law, Mike (Mary) Fannin of Lexington, KY. Arthur retired from AM General in 2000 after 35 years of service. He will be remembered for his love of family, camping, gardening and model trains. Visitation will be held from 12:00-2:00 pm, Wednesday, October 16, 2013 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, in the funeral home with burial to follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. The family preferred memorial is the Northern Indiana Food Bank, 702 Chapin St., South Bend, IN 46601.
