Obituary

ELKHART- Audrey Phillips, 82, of Elkhart went home to be with the Lord at 8:45 a.m., Wednesday, July 27, at Elkhart General Hospital.
She was born January 16, 1934, in Steubenville, OH to the late Rev. Lewis and Martha (Henderson) Kayser. She was the youngest of their 7 children.
After earning her BS in Elementary Education from the University of Steubenville in 1959, Audrey thoroughly enjoyed being an elementary school teacher in Steubenville.
On June 24, 1961, she married Ben F. Phillips in Wellsburg, WV. Ben and Audrey then moved to Elkhart in 1964 and together they raised two children, Darren (Bonnie) Phillips and Beverly Phillips, who, along with Ben, survive. Also surviving is her sister, Alberta Robinson of New Kensington, PA. Audrey was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Elmore, Earl and Elton Kayser, as well as two sisters, Alice Brubaker and Arlene Molnar.
After having her children, Audrey became a homemaker, at which she excelled. She had a passion for baking and cooking. She also enjoyed traveling and reading, as well as being a member of McCoy Memorial Baptist church.
Audrey was a loving and dedicated spouse and mother, who always put others before herself and lived out her Christian faith. She touched the lives of many people with her kindness, thoughtfulness and sweet smile. She will be greatly missed as a loving spouse, mother, sister, aunt and friend.
A Memorial service for Audrey will be on Monday, August 1, 2016, at McCoy Memorial Baptist Church, 134 St. Clair Ave., Elkhart, IN 46516. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to McCoy Memorial Baptist Church.
Chapel Hill Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
