Obituary

Aurelia A. Lauer, 90, of Elkhart passed away in Woodland Manor at 12:33 am, Thursday, February 19, 2009. Aurelia was born on October 8, 1918 in Bowling Green, MO to the late John Bernard and Catherine (Schuckenbrock) Bueter.
Aurelia attended St. Mary''s Juniorette School and graduated from Elkhart High School in 1936. On January 15, 1940, she married Paul Jerome Lauer, who was lost in action at sea in 1943 while serving on the USS Buck. She then married her late husband''s older brother, Arthur C. Lauer on July 3, 1947. Arthur also served in the US Navy for 23 years. He passed away November 22, 2004. She is also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Susan Colleen Lauer, four sisters, Mary Stephenson, Fran Lorenz, Sister Dorothy Bueter, C.S.C. and Virginia Ely and two brothers, John and Norbert Bueter.
Aurelia is survived by two daughters, Rita (Galen) Harley of Elkhart and Paula (Denny) Lockmandy of Elkhart and St. Croix, VI; one son, John (Beverly) Lauer of The Villages, FL;10 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Willie Bueter of Edwardsburg, MI and three sisters, Joanne (Dale) Blosser of Goshen, IN, Elizabeth (Paul) Rodewald of Florida and Sister Kathleen Bueter, C.S.C. of St. Mary''s, Notre Dame.
Aurelia was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, Elkhart, where she was a member of the Rosary Society. She will be remembered for her sewing, beautiful embroidery work and for her famous apple pies! Aurelia requested special thanks go to Dr. Kenneth Gammon, Dr. Jack Bartoszek and all the staff at Woodland Manor, and Father Bill Sullivan of St. Thomas the Apostle Church.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, February 21, 2009 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinely Highway, Osceola, with two hours of visitation prior to the service. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
