Barbara Joyce Barbour

(January 6, 1939 – May 16, 2024)

Barbara Joyce Barbour, age 85, of Mishawaka, Indiana, went home to be with the Lord on May 16, 2024. Barbara was born in South Bend, Indiana, on January 6, 1939 to John Franklin and Helen Marie Gibson. Barbara was married to her husband, Lonnie Richard Barbour, for 55 years.

Barbara had the biggest and most selfless heart. She was known for always lending a hand and helping others through her service at her church and making blankets and scarves for people in her community. She even drove cross country to a Native American Reservation to donate homemade blankets and hats! She was an active member of Gospel Center Missionary Church where she was loved and known by all. She absolutely loved animals and had a passion for rescuing dogs and cats. Barbara was an avid reader and gardener and had the most beautiful landscaping. She will forever be remembered for being strong willed with a kind heart.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, John and Helen, and husband, Richard. Barbara is survived by her children Deborah White (Tim), Michele Lankford (Fred), Vickie Uselton (John), and Steve Barbour (Debbie); grandchildren Nichole (Adam) and Tyris Varga, Jesse (Stacy) and Joel (Emily) Helmuth, and Amanda (Tom), Ashley, and Lindsay Uselton; great grandchildren, Arianna and Athena Alvarez, Liam Dewey, Landen and Jason Uselton, AvaBelle and Gianna Varga, and Frannie and Junie Helmuth; sister Dorothy Marie Anderson; and nephews Jimmy, Dan, and John Carl.

A memorial service will be held at Gospel Center Missionary Church, 930 S. 30th St, South Bend, IN, on May 31, 2024, at 1:00 pm, with visitation beginning one hour prior. Funeral arrangements provided by Chapel Hill Funeral Home.
