Barbara L. Mumford, 79, died Monday April 29, 2013 at the Bremen Health Care Center. The former resident of South Bend was born October 4, 1933 in Elkhart, to Paul & Carolyn (Strong) Smith and attended Elkhart High School. She was a member of Bremen Church of the Brethren and was an avid gardener who enjoyed flowers. In 1995, Barbara retired from Quality Control at Miller Bearing Co in Bremen after 21 years there. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughters, Carol Ann Spaid & Mari Ann Spaid and her sister Phyllis Kalb. Survivors include her sons, Dan (Carol) Spaid of Bremen and Dean (Dana) Spaid of South Bend; sisters, Arlene Kelly of Elkhart and Georgia Ann (Kenny) Lacefield of Elkhart; six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Funeral Services 11:00 Thursday May 2, 2013 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Hwy, where friends may call one hour prior to services. Burial in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
