Barbara S. Stanley, 75, of Elkhart, died Tuesday March 8, 2011 at Elkhart General Hospital. She was born in South Bend on June 3, 1935 to Harold and Goldie (Matz) Feather. Barbara graduated from Mishawaka High School, Class of 1953 and attended Indiana University-South Bend. A member of Trinity United Methodist Church, she was past-president of the Elkhart County Chapter of Indiana Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) and an Indiana State Board Member of the Governor's Task Force to Reduce Drunk Driving. Barbara was also a C.A.S.A. volunteeer for Child And Parent Services (CAPS) of Elkhart County and a board member of Elkhart County Association of Life Underwriters (ECALU). She was also a board member & past-president of Four Arts. Survivors include her sons, Jeff (Leann) Stanley of Elkhart and Greg Stanley of Evanston, IL; her daughter, Pam (John) Paege of Osceola; her grandchildren, Lt. James (Christina) Stanley, U.S.M.C of Murrieta, CA with imminent deployment to Afghanistan, Dr. Jennifer (Dr. Ryan) Plichta of Oak Park, IL, Kaitlin Paege and Emily Paege, both of Osceola; brothers, Roger (Debbie) Simmons of Warsaw and Bill (Sue) Simmons of Topeka, KS; and half-brother, Hal Feather in Florida. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, James Stanley and son, Bret Stanley. Funeral Services are 11:00 Thursday, March 10, 2011 in Trinity United Methodist Church, 2715 E. Jackson Blvd., with calling one hour prior to services. Calling also 2-8pm on Wednesday at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Hwy. Burial in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
