MISHAWAKA - Basil Leslie 78, passed away in his home Saturday morning with his family at his side. He was born to Herald and Marguerite (Gregory) Leslie in Mishawaka IN. He is survived by his wife Patricia, his son Bill Layne of Mishawaka, his daughters Keely Weir (fianc Robert Sherman) Mishawka, Sherry (Larry) Howland of Mishawka, seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and his brother Gary. Basil is preceded in death by is parents, his brother Larry Lee, his sister Judy Holcomb and sister in law Paula Leslie. Basil worked for the Penn Harris Madison School Corporation at Penn High School serving as one of the school custodians. He also served in the United States Army in the 1950''s. Basil was also an avid hunter and fisherman who enjoyed the quality time spent outdoors. He also loved his dog Sparky. His greatest love of all was his family, whom he cared for and cherished deeply. A gathering of friends and family will be held for Basil on Tuesday August 18th from 5:00 - 8:00 pm at Chapel Hill Funeral Home located at 10776 Mckinley Highway Osceola IN, 46545. A funeral service with military honors will be held at Chapel Hill Funeral Home on Wednesday at 10:00am with one hour prior calling with Rev. Bob Vale officiating, burial will immediately follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
