Obituary

Bennie J. Suetkamp, 87, of Granger, passed away at 8:45 am, September 2, 2009 in his home surrounded by family. Bennie was born on July 1, 1922 in Chapin, IL to the late Benjamin F. and Katherine (Lacey) Suetkamp. On December 6, 1941 in Bowling Green, MO, he married Elva E. Sample. She passed away on August 25, 1996.
He is survived by two sons, Bennie A. (Nancy) Suetkamp and Larry (Reba) Suetkamp, both of Granger and one daughter, Kathy (Terry) Thiel of Fenwick, MI. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, one son, Dale Suetkamp, one grandchild and one great grandchild.
Bennie moved to the area from Jacksonville, IL in 1947 and lived in the Osceola area until 1954, when he moved to Granger. He proudly served his country during WWII in the US Army and became honorably discharged in 1946. He worked for Bendix for many years before retiring in 1981 and was a member of the UAW local 9 and the VFW Post 360. He will be remembered for his love of chocolate and his woodworking skills. He also loved to fish and camp and enjoyed being outdoors.
Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 pm, Friday, September 4, 2009 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, Sept 5, 2009 in the funeral home with burial to follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens with full military honors.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Center for Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc., 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.
