Bertie Abigail "Abbie" Doty, 85, of Mishawaka, passed away at 9:48 am, Friday, September 2, 2011 in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka. Abbie was born on July 10, 1926, the daughter of the late Bertie and Zelma (Hanks) Basham. On February 28, 1946 in Mishawaka, she married William H. Doty, Sr.
She was a member of the VFW Post 360 Women''s Auxilary. After retirement they owned and operated 3D Campground in Grovertown, IN for 15 years. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, William, three children, Bill (Patti) Doty, Jr., Tom (Kathy) Doty, Sr., and Kathy Doty Mahler. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Tom (Katrina) Doty, Jr., Rachel (Troy) Owen, Dan (Tara) Sharp, Todd (Kerry) Doty, Jill Doty, Kaley (Ryan) Carter, Becca Barnett and Carl DeMoss and 14 great grandchildren, with one on the way. She is preceded in death by her parents and five siblings, Leroy Basham, Robert Basham, Jo Clemans, Dorothy Warner and Beatrice Springer.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm, Thursday, September 8, 2011 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola, with two hours of visitation prior to the service. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial contribution to the St. Joseph County Humane Society, 2506 Grape Road, Mishawka, IN 46545.
