Bettie Mae Kern, 87, of Mishawaka, passed away at 8:30 pm, Monday, October 10, 2011, in Michiana Health & Rehab, surrounded by family. Bettie was born on August 7, 1924, on Uniontown, PA, the daughter of the late John C. and Madelyn (Seaton) Bosley. She is also preceded in death by a sister, Vivian J. Mullett.
In Pine City, MN on July 3, 1962, Bettie married William "Bill" Kern, who survives. Also surviving are her son, Albert E. (Lillie) Smith and daughter, Mary F. (Jack) Beatty, both of South Bend and a step son, Theodore (Penny) Kern of Green River, WY. In addition, eight grandchildren, John and Matt Smith, Debbie Leyba, Kathy Tatum, Ben Hesch, Marty Hesch, Billy Kern and Jamie Kern, as well as, nine great grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Bob Bosley.
Bettie worked for Bendix for 30 years before her retirement and loved spending winters in Florida. She loved gardening and animals. Her rescue dog, Snowflake, also misses her.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am, Saturday, October 15, 2011 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola with visitation beginning at 10:00 am.
