Betty J. Baldwin, age 84, of Elkhart, passed away at Elkhart General Hospital on Sunday, September 6, 2009. Betty was born November 29, 1924 in Wakarusa, Indiana to the late Floyd V. and Louzeal (Hartman) Husband. On March 27, 1942, Betty married Mr. Clarence Baldwin in Wakarusa, Indiana. Clarence preceded her in death, passing away October 11, 2004.
Betty is survived by her children, Vickie Colcord, Terry (Sherry) Baldwin, and Philip (Linda) Baldwin, all of Elkhart, 7 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Charles Husband of Elkhart, and her sister Donna Miller of Goshen, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her sister, Marjorie Shumaker.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 pm Thursday, September 10, 2009 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, September 11, 2009 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home with interment to follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Betty was employed as a Nurse''s Aide for many years at Elkhart General Hospital. She was also employed in assembly at DoMore Office Furniture in Elkhart until her retirement in 1968. Following her retirement, she became a homemaker, and enjoyed studying genealogy, making ceramics, knitting, and working in her garden. Betty''s memberships include the DoMore Retiree''s Club, the Daughter''s of the American Revolution, and the First Baptist Church in Bristol, Indiana.
