Betty L. Borton, 95, of South Bend, IN passed away on Oct. 25, 2022 at the Sanctuary at Holy Cross in South Bend.  She was born on Sept. 5, 1927 in St. Joseph County to Oscar and Fannie (Musser) Vernon.  She married Russell Borton on May 23, 1947.  He preceded her in death on June 14, 2004.

She is survived by her grandsons: James (Dawn) Berger; Kenneth (Kelly) Berger and Shawn Berger; 6 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; as well as her sister, Katie Bonder.

She was preceded in death by her son, Mark Borton; her daughter, Linda Miller; her parents; her brothers, Ronald Hook and Kenneth Umbaugh; her sisters, Doris Woodruff and Carole Ann Kovacevich.

Betty served as a mother and grandmother to many, whenever they needed her.  Her love was the foundation for her family.

Visitation will be on Sunday Oct. 30, 2022 from 4-7 PM at Chapel Hill Funeral Home 10776 McKinley Hwy., Osceola, IN 46561.

A funeral service in her honor will be on Monday Oct. 31, 2022 at 11 AM at St. Paul's Episcopal Church 616 Lincolnway East Mishawaka, IN 46544.  Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the American Heart Association.
