Betty I. Gilvin, 89, of Mishawaka, went to be with her Lord and Savior at 11:33 am, Friday, September 27, 2013 in her home surrounded by her daughters. Betty was born on February 27, 1924, the daughter of the late Lott and Lucy (Reynolds) Bramel. On October 24, 1942 in Maysville, KY, Betty married the love of her life, Russell R. Gilvin. He passed away on March 22, 1998.
She is survived by four daughters, Sonja S. (Charles) Mann of Mishawaka, Connie E. (Rick) Paridaen of Osceola, Gail R. (Mark) Stamper of Granger, and April L. (Jack) Wolfe of Indianapolis. Betty, better known as Nana, leaves her legacy of 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren. She leaves a sister, Beulah Gray of Ripley, OH. Betty is preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Beverly M. Thornton, granddaughter, Teri S. Mann and three siblings.
Betty loved the Lord and faithfully read His word daily. She loved to spend time in her beautiful rose garden and also enjoyed crocheting and reading. She treasured time spent with family, especially on her back yard swing. One of Betty''s favorite verses is Ephesians 2:8, " For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:"
Visitation will be held from 12:00-2:00 pm, Tuesday, October 1, 2013 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday in the funeral home with Pastor Shawn Thornton officiating. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
