Obituary

Elkhart - Betty Lou Byers, 86, passed away at Elkhart General Hospital after a period of declining health.

Betty was born on April 13, 1938, in Pikeville, KY to the late Noah and Bertha (McGuire) Coleman.

Betty moved to Indiana in the late 1950's from Kentucky. Betty was married to Gwin Meade and Donnie Warren (both are deceased). She was also preceded in death by her sisters Bessie Atkins, Beulah M. Robinson, Sylvia Prader, Della Coleman, Cary Henderson, Mary Byers, Ida Coleman, brothers; Danny E. Thacker, Kenneth Thacker, Paul Thacker, Donald Thacker.

Betty had worked for Reese Products for many years and then went to Meijer's in Goshen where she enjoyed being a door greeter. She had also been a member of the Red Hat Society.

Betty and John "Jay" Byers married on April 7th, 2001, in Elkhart.

She is survived by her husband, John Byers, daughter; Stacey (Steve) Curtis of Elkhart, a son; Tim (Kay) Meade of Elkhart, grandchildren; Mikey Meade, Scott Curtis, Stefanie Curtis and two great grandchildren, a brother; Jimmy Thacker (and numerous nieces and nephews mostly from Kentucky.)

The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 21st, 2024, from 10:00 AM till 12:00 noon at Chapel Hill Funeral Home. The funeral service will immediately follow at 12:00 noon at Chapel Hill's Funeral Home, Osceola IN.

The interment will Immediately follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
