MISHAWAKA - Betty Miller, 87, passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 1, 2017 in Mishawaka. Betty was born December 2, 1929 to the late Joseph Haas and Grace (Balsley) Haisley in Mishawaka, Indiana. Betty wed Robert "Bob" E. Miller January 24, 1948. Together, they celebrated 58 years of marriage before his passing on March 26, 2006.
Betty was a past member of the Ladies Auxiliary Club at the American Legion, Post #308 in Osceola as well as the owner of Betty''s Beauty Shop where she cut and styled hair for families for twenty years. Betty was known for her extraordinary baking. Her family remembers her making the best pies, fried chicken dinners every Sunday, and all sorts of cookies for Christmas. She also loved to knit and later started crocheting. Betty was an avid mushroom hunter. Her family remembers being with her on several occasions where she stated that she could see Morels from the road while still seated in the car. An amazing talent indeed!
Betty is survived by her sons, Keith (Carol) Miller of Kalamazoo, MI, Eric (Karen) Miller of Granger, IN, and Robert (Marla) Miller of Dunlap, IN; daughters, Sandra Floyd of Elkhart, IN and Cynthia Brandvig of California City, CA; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, with one great-grandchild on the way, and her sisters, Dorothy Bentley of Mishawaka, IN and Patricia Branson of Elkhart, IN. Betty was preceded in death by her brother, Eugene Haas and sisters, Marvene Wilson, and Joan Stouder.
Family will be receiving friends for visitation from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm on Fri., Aug. 4, 2017 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home located at 10776 McKinley Hwy, Osceola. Funeral services will be held 10:00 am Sat. Aug., 5, 2017 with one hour of visitation prior at the funeral home. Pastor Craig Duke will be officiating.
