Obituary

Betty Eileen Zimmerman, 91, of Goshen, formerly of Elkhart, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at home surrounded by her loving family. The Elkhart native was born April 21, 1925 to Arthur and Mabel (Dellinger) Hack, who have both preceded her in death. On July 12, 1947, Betty married Floyd Zimmerman, who preceded her in death on May 20, 2006. Betty gave her heart to the Lord at a very young age. She attended the Apostolic Penecostal Church of Goshen and the Apostolic Temple in South Bend for many years. She loved children and had been a Sunday school teacher and children''s choir leader. She will be remembered as a person who shared her faith with others, and was a faithful servant of Jesus Christ her Lord. Betty enjoyed the outdoors and had a green thumb. In 1940, she had won the Elkhart Summer Playground 1st Prize Yarn Weaving Award. As an adult, Betty became passionate about crocheting and, with her generous spirit, made and gave away hundreds of afghans to family and friends over the years. Betty worked over 40 years, retiring from International Paper in 1988. She is survived by her children, David E. Zimmerman and Mary R. (Jim) Scott; five grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren, three nephews and her niece, Cinda. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 59 years, Floyd; son, John C. Zimmerman on December 5, 2003; grandson, Jimmy Scott on June 10, 2008; her brothers and sisters, June L. Logan, Don L. Hack, Elaine P. Hack and twin brothers Richard H. Hack and Robert E. Hack. Friends and family will be received on Thursday, December 29, 2016 from 3-8 PM at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola, IN 46561. A homegoing celebration in Betty''s honor will be held on Friday, December 30, 2016 at 2 PM at the funeral home with Bishop Jack DeVault, Pastor Michael Curton, Pastor Chris Rowe, and Rev. Chuck Crum officiating with calling one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. The family''s preferred memorial is to Missions Fund at Abundant Life Apostolic Pentecostal Church, 61103 Old County Road 17; Goshen, Indiana 46526 and Missions Fund at Apostolic Temple, 2221 S.
