Betty Jane (Pischalko) Horvath, 91, of Granger, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday June 25, 2024 at home. She was born on January 13, 1933 in South Bend, IN to Steve and Rose (Sauer) Pischalko.
She lived her early years on the family farm in Dowagiac, Michigan, riding horses driving tractors and tending the different animals they raised. She moved back to South Bend, IN and graduated from Clay High School in 1951. She met the love of her life, Leslie Horvath, and they married on May 31, 1952. They had four children- Vickilyn, Leslie, Donald and Theresa. They moved to Granger in 1966 to a home that she and Leslie built themselves on land that was part of Leslie's family farm. Betty was proud to have been employed at Studebakers until the doors closed. She was an amazing seamstress. She would sew wedding gowns, ballet recital costumes, drapes and many other things. She owned a ceramics shop for 33 years, where she made many friends. She also taught 4-H ceramics. She was a lifetime member of the Moose.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie on April 23, 1990; a grandson, Trevor; and her parents.
Betty leaves to cherish her memory her children: Vickilyn (Dave) Fleisher, Leslie (Susan) Horvath, Donald Horvath and Theresa (James) Savidge; 8 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; as well as a brother, Steve (Joyce Miller) Pischalko; and four very special cousins: Ken Sauer, Carol Sauer, Steve Sauer and Barbara Jean Kryer.
Friends may visit with the family on Monday July 1, from 10am-12pm at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Hwy., Osceola, IN 46561.
A Funeral Service will begin at 12 PM at the funeral home. Fr. Augustine Onuoha with St. Pius X Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the charity of the donor's choice.
