Betty Lou Casner Hartung Love, born May 27, 1938, passed away July 8, 2026, following an extended illness.

She is survived by her three grandchildren Eric Nicholas Regan, Sarah Colleen Regan, and Allen Craig Hartung-Mann, one great granddaughter Tiffani Ann Hartung-Mann, all from Elkhart, one step-son Richard (Betty) Love, Jr. (Florida), three step-grandchildren Andrew Love (Florida), Conner Love (Georgia) and Abagail Love (Florida) and two sisters Donna Newland (Goshen) and Rose (Dale) Rogers (South Bend).

Betty was preceded in death by her parents Clyde and Gladys (Vining) Casner, her husband Richard Love, her former husband Claud Herbert Hartung, Jr, her son Craig Allen Hartung, her daughter Karen Lynn Hartung, her sister Phyllis Buzalski, her brother Wilfred Casner and her great granddaughter Taylor Leah Hartung-Mann. Betty was born in Etna Green Indiana but grew up in South Bend where she attended Central High School.

Betty’s work history includes the former St. Joseph Bank, Saint Mary’s College duplicating department, Waterfield Mortgage in South Bend and Ft. Wayne, LaSalle Dietch in Elkhart and Dexter Rim and Wheel in Elkhart. She was a charter member of Prince of Peace Church of the Brethren in South Bend and a Life Member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary.

She was a member of the Phi Sigma Alpha sorority for 35 years and a member of a Red Hat group in Elkhart. Betty spent many years recruiting for and judging the Elkhart City pageant as a part of the Miss Indiana pageant. She and her husband Richard were also on the Board of Directors for the Miss Elkhart City pageant, and they sponsored the Miss Congeniality award (which was later renamed the Love award).

Visitation will be at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola, IN on Friday, July 17th from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM. She will be laid to rest at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Garden of Everlasting Life, Osceola, IN.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Betty’s name to Faith United Methodist Church 22045 County Road 18, Goshen IN 46528.
