Betty L. Miller, age 81, of Mishawaka, passed away at her residence on Wednesday, August 8, 2012. Betty was born September 20, 1930 in South Bend, Indiana to the late Kenneth and Irene (Case) Myers. Betty was employed for 32 years at Bendix Honeywell in South Bend before her retirement in 1985. After her retirement, she became a cook at the Eagles Lodge in Mishawaka for many years, and worked as a greeter at the Meijer store on Bremen Highway in Mishawaka.
Surviving are her children, Connie Jean (Dan) Bowlds of South Bend, and James Miller of Mishawaka. Betty is also survived by her siblings, Kenneth (Mary Lou) Myers of Niles, Michigan and Pat (O.H.) Jennings of Ft. Wayne, Indiana. Surviving as well are four grandchildren; Melissa M. (Bob) Carrico, Brian J. (Cheryl) Pemberton, Daniela L. (Michael) Gathright and Desiree L. (Patrick) Bowlds - Hurtle, along with eight great grandchildren; Chad & Ashley Carrico, Michael L. and Malcolm C. Gathright, Izabella T. Bowlds, Noah D. Bowlds-Igaz, and Priscilla R. and Wolfgang L. Bowlds-Hurtle. She is also survived by her nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her sister, Delores Smith and her niece Emily Greene-.
There will be no visitation or services. Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola is handling arrangements.
Betty was a member of the Local #9 UAW, and volunteered her time at St. Margaret''s House and the Ronald McDonald House in South Bend She enjoyed playing golf, knitting, playing BINGO and reading. She was also a longtime member of the Willow Creek United Methodist Church in Mishawaka.
