Obituary

On this day, January 20, 2010 at 3:20 pm, Betty Jane Persun (Ashley) slipped away from this world into a life of eternal peace. Betty passed away in the home of her daughter, surrounded by loving family.
Betty was born on December 12, 1926 in Menominee, MI, the daughter of Gilbert and Marie "Bea" Ashley (Kearns), both of whom have preceded her in death, along with brothers, Edmond "Buddy", Floyd and Clayton Ashley, sisters, Helen Davidson and Byrl Ashley and infant son, Lance Sterling Persun.
She is survived by three children, Vicky (Dallas) Slone of Mishawaka, Rick (Sue) Persun of Osceola and Jamie Barter of Mishawaka, grandchildren, Ashley (Matt) Hammond of Mishawaka, Adrianne Stone of Mishawaka, Nolan Barter of Mishawaka, Zach (Krysta) Persun of Mishawaka and Jennifer Peterson of Osceola; four great grandchildren, Dylan, Colton, Dallas, Emma, and Brady. She is also survived by a sister, Doris (Pat) Newton of Osceola, brother in law, Carl Davidson of Colorado Springs, CO and best friend, Annie Christman of Mishawaka.
She spent most of her childhood and adult life in Mishawaka. She attended Mishawaka High School. She worked for Ball Band and later retired after many years at Burcliff Industries. Betty enjoyed spending time with her family, shopping, and yard selling with her long time friend, Annie.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm, Monday, January 24, 2011 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola, with two hours of visitation prior to the service. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka.
