Betty M. Smith, 87, of South Bend, died on August 25, 2018 at Saint Paul's Retirement Community.  She was born in Waterloo, Alabama on April 17, 1931 to Clarence and Mae (Sego) Scott.  On December 31, 1948, Betty married Edwin Smith in Tupelo, Mississippi and he preceded her in death on October 24, 2010.  Betty attended the Church of Christ and was involved in many activities at the church.  She enjoyed cooking and she had a passion for cleaning.  Betty is survived by her children, daughter-in-law, Christine Smith of Granger, Melissa (Lloyd) Troyer, Kenneth (Patricia) Smith both of Osceola, James (Michelle) Smith of Mishawaka; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; her brother, Roy Scott; brother-in-law, Bob Hanback; sister-in-law, Betty Smith; and sister-in-law, Lavada (Ed) Syzmczak .  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 62 years, Edwin; and son, Dannie Smith.  Friends and family will be received on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 from 4-8 PM at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola, IN  46561.  A service in Betty's honor will be held on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at 11 AM with calling one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Center for Hospice Care,
