Betty J. Thibodeaux, age 81, of Niles, Michigan, passed away Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at Hospice House of St. Joseph County following a brief illness. Betty was born May 19, 1928 to the late George and Edna (Rohrer) McGrew in Mishawaka, Indiana. In October of 1949, Betty married Mr. Robert Thibodeaux in Mishawaka.
Robert survives, along with their children, Gloria (Jim) Tesch of Kernersville, North Carolina, Jean Krueger of Niles, Michigan, Cathy Thibodeaux of South Bend, Indiana, and Robert (Carolyn) Thibodeaux Jr. of Niles, Michigan. Betty is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, as well as her brother, Robert (Janet) Jolliff of South Bend.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm Friday, May 7, 2010 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola. Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 pm Saturday, May 8, 2010 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home with interment to follow in the Garden of Nativity on the grounds of Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola.
Betty was a graduate of Niles High School. She was employed for 23 years as a bus driver for Brandywine School in Niles, until her retirement in 1993. Betty attended Michiana Christian Church for many years with her husband. In her spare time, she enjoyed oil painting, singing, and attending TOPS Club.
