Betty Lou Tucker-Kempf, 92, of South Bend, died on September 9, 2018. She was born in Michigan City, IN on March 3, 1926 to Henry and Pearl Harlacher. Betty was raised in Michigan City and Rolling Prairie, graduating from High School in 1944. Betty graduated from the College of Commerce in 1946 with her Secretarial degree and Vogue Beauty School in 1963 as a Cosmetologist. On December 30, 1959, Betty married James (Jim) Tucker who was the love of her life. He preceded her in death in August 1970 after a fatal car accident. Years later, Betty married William Kempf, Sr. and he preceded her in death. Prior to her marriage to Jim Tucker, she worked as a Professional Secretary at Bendix and Associates. After Jim's death, Betty performed data processing duties for Midwest Sales until she retired. Betty loved all of her grandchildren. She especially loved picnics at her home and Tucker family gatherings. Betty was an avid reader and loved to sing. The family wants to express a very special thanks to Sharon Hochstetler who was Betty's caregiver. Sharon's tender and loving care allowed Betty to remain in her home. Betty is survived by two daughters, Sandra (Terry) Mann and Bonnie (James) Howard; five grandchildren, Brian (Jennifer) Mann, Patrick (Sarah) Howard, Robyn (Dave) Goehring, and Lori (Dan) Lowery; 13 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jim; a grandson, Scott Mann; and two brothers and three sisters. A funeral service in Betty's honor will be held on Friday, September 14, 2018 at 11 AM in the Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola, IN 46561 with calling one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 because of her love of children.
