Beverly Joan Johnson, 82, of Elkhart, passed away on Friday, January 4, 2019 at home.  She was born on April 14, 1936 to Rev. L. Harold and Dorothy (Crofoot) Weldy in Mishawaka, Indiana.  Joan graduated from Wakarusa High School in 1954 and on August 2, 1958, Joan married Thomas R. Johnson in Warsaw, Indiana and he survives.  She worked for Walter Piano and Cleveland Elementary School as a Paraprofessional until her retirement in 2000.  Joan and Tom enjoyed winters in Sebring, Florida.  She enjoyed playing the piano and singing in church.  Joan was so happy when her brother Bud married Sharon Dickson giving her the sister she never had.  She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Thomas; her brother, Ross (Linda) Weldy; and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, Loyd "Bud" Weldy, Clee Weldy, and Philip Weldy.  Friends and family will be received on Friday, January 11, 2019 from 4-8 PM in the Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola, IN  46561.  A service in Joan's honor will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 11 AM with Rev. Mark Johnson officiating.  Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Center for Hospice, 22579 Old U.S. 20 East, Elkhart, IN  46516.
