Obituary

Billie G. Ash, age 83, of Osceola passed away on February 15, 2016 at 2:47 PM in the Hospice House in South Bend. He was born April 22, 1932 to Clayson and Nora (Sampson) Ash in Mishawaka, Indiana. After graduating from Mishawaka High School in 1950, Billie enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served honorably from 1952 to 1955. During his service, he served as a Platoon Leader during the Korean War. On January 10, 1953, Billie married Jacquie Parent. She survives. Mr. Ash worked for Uniroyal for 35 years. After retirement, Billie worked with the Mishawaka High School Alumni Group and attended the monthly Alumni Gathering. He was a member of the VFW and was a lifetime area resident. Billie enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and most outdoor activities. He was a catcher for the softball league that he played on and he enjoyed playing golf, watching Notre Dame sports, IU Basketball, the Colts and the Bears, and was a fan of Joe Montana and Bobby Knight. Watching Westerns on TV was also a favorite pastime of Billie''s. Billie is survived by his wife, Jacquie; his children, Mick (Patricia) Ash of South Bend, Rick (Deb) Ash of Cumming, GA, and Stacy (Mike) Kelly of Solsbury, IN; six grandchildren, Nicholas Ash, Michael (Stephanie) Ash, Aaron (Shayla) Ash, Patrick Ash, Sarah (Zach) Abram, and Rachel Kelly; four great grandchildren. In accordance with Billie''s wishes, a private cremation committal will take place with a celebration of life at a later date.
