Bob Basham, age 65, of South Bend, passed away Friday, March 23, 2012 at the Fountainview Golden Living Center in Mishawaka. Bob was born November 26, 1946 in South Bend to the late Robert T. and Eileen (Annis) Basham. In 1965, Bob graduated from Riley High School.
Surviving is his sister, Barbara DiLorenzo of Granger, and his half brother Doug Vaughn of Arizona. Bob is also survived by two loving nieces, Michele Barrett-Heaton and Katie Dodson.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 pm Monday, March 26, 2012 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola. A private entombment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Bob was an avid sports fan and quite the athlete. As a child, he became a lifelong fan of the Detroit Tigers. Many knew him as "Baseball Bob." Bob also spent most of his free time playing golf. He also enjoyed playing softball and in his younger years, Bob was a pitcher for many of the local fast-pitch softball teams in the Mishawaka and South Bend Leagues. Bob bowled in leagues at Chippewa Bowling Alley in South Bend for many years as well.
Bob loved animals, especially dogs. In his memory, donations may be made to Pet Refuge, 2300 W. 6th St., Mishawaka, Indiana.
