Bonnie J. Thorson, 87, of Osceola, affectionately known as "Miss Bonnie" in the community, died Monday June 4, 2018 at Greenleaf Living Center in Elkhart. Bonnie was born November 1, 1930 in Muskegon MI to Andrew and Ora Rose (Buck) Thorson; she was one of 9 surviving children. She came to Indiana in 1964 for a short visit and ended up staying, working at several family owned restaurants in the Osceola area and also cared for children, both as a live-in and as a babysitter. Her true joy was the children and she was very happy to have obtained a job as lunch lady at Moran Elementary School, where she spent the next 29 yrs. She loved to share wonderful stories about her co-workers, the staff and the children. A familiar figure in the community, area residents who knew her, by name or not, would always wave or peep as she walked to and from Moran, often stopping to offer a ride. "Our friend and Aunt has moved on. Come help us celebrate her long and independent life." Funeral Services 11:00 Friday June 8, 2018 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Hwy. with calling on Friday from 10-11am. Calling also on Thursday from 6-8pm in the funeral home.
