Candace L. (Howe) Martinez, 62, of Elkhart, died on Wednesday, August 3, 2016, at Valley View Nursing Home after a courageous 9-year battle with early onset Dementia and Parkinson''s disease. She was born on June 15, 1954 to the late Lorence E. and Alice M. (Roe) Howe, Sr. On December 11, 2004 she married Miguel Martinez in Elkhart.

Candi is survived by Miguel and two daughters, Tonya Thrash of Oklahoma and Katrina (Eric) Gillespie of Michigan. She is also survived by her brother, Lorence (Cheri) Howe, of Goshen and sister-in-law, Nora Cruz, along with six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, three nieces, and three nephews. Candi is also survived by an aunt and many cousins.

Candi was a graduate of Edwardsburg High School and served in the United States Navy after graduation. She was also a 1984 graduate of the Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. Candi worked for many years as a nurse, including several years as a traveling and home healthcare nurse. Candi loved singing and dancing, exploring flea markets and family get-togethers.
Friends and family may call from 10-12 am on Saturday, August 6, at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola IN The funeral service will full military honors will be held immediately following the visitation.
