Obituary

Carl A. Grepke Jr., age 79, of Osceola, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Easter Day, April 24, 2011 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka. Carl was born to the late Carl and May (Alltop) Grepke Sr. in Fort Wayne, Indiana on August 2, 1931. In 1951, Carl enlisted in the U.S. Army, and served his country honorably until his discharge in 1953. On May 12, 1956 in Waukesha, Wisconsin, he married Shirley Steinbock. They celebrated nearly 55 years of marriage.
Carl is survived by his wife Shirley Grepke, along with their three daughters; Denise (Terry) Moser of Mishawaka, Dawn Parker of Suwanee, Georgia, and Janine (Ronnie) Castleberry of Southlake, Texas. Surviving as well are six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Carl is also survived by his sister, Terry Kindler of Lannon, Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by his sisters Thelma Mangione, Dorothy Zweck, and his step brother William Molkentine.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 pm Thursday, April 28, 2011 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola, where the Mishawaka Masonic Lodge #130 will hold a memorial service at 7:30 pm. There will also be one hour of calling prior to the 10:30 am funeral service at the Osceola United Methodist Church on Friday, April 29, 2011. Entombment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola, where the VFW Post #360 will perform Military Honors.
Mr. Grepke was employed for more than thirty years with the Department of Defense, before his retirement in 1994. Following retirement, he and his wife Shirley enjoyed traveling the United States.
Carl was a longtime member of the Osceola United Methodist Church, where he was a soloist and sang in the choir. Through the Church, Carl was a founding member of the Baugo Bay Gospel Singers. He was also a Past Master of the Osceola Masonic Lodge and currently was a member of the Mishawaka Masonic Lodge #130, and the South Bend Valley of the Scottish Rite. In his younger years, he enjoyed dancing, hunting and fishing, and was a lifelong fan of the Green Bay Packers.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the building fund at the Osceola United Methodist Church in Osceola.
