Carl Eugene Ward, age 83 of Elkhart, passed away Wed. August 7, 2013 at Miller''s Merry Manor in Wakarusa. Carl was born May 22, 1930 in Hymera, Indiana to the late Virgil Sr. and Bessie Ward. Carl married Vernice J. Garl on June 10, 1977.
Vernice survives, along with his daughters Virginia (Denny) Graham and Nila Britt, both of Mishawaka, and step daughters Janet Stone of Mishawaka, Jane Stone of Arizona, and Sandy (Mike) Magyar of Elkhart. Also surviving are his brothers Virgil Ward Jr. and Robert (Wanda) Ward, 14 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren. Carl was preceded in death by his son Brian Ward
Visitation will be held from 2-6 pm Sunday, Aug. 11, 2013 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola. Funeral services will be held at 10 am Monday, Aug. 12, 2013 at Jamestown United Methodist Church 59218 CR 3, in Elkhart and interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
Carl was employed for many years with the Uniroyal Corporation in Mishawaka, retiring in the late 1980''s. He was an avid gardener, loved to hunt deer and played pool in his spare time. Carl was also a longtime member of the Jamestown United Methodist Church.
In his memory, donations may be made to the charity of the donor''s choice.
