Obituary

Carol Ann Brown, age 85, of Elkhart, IN passed away April 25, 2023. A life resident of the area, she was born February 9, 1938 in Elkhart, IN to the late Glenn Leroy Clark and Mary Elizabeth (Stoner) Clark. Carol married the love of her life, Larry Keith Brown on August 2, 1958. They had a wonderful marriage of 57 years until his passing March 6, 2016. Carol was a past member of Pleasant Valley UCC. More recently, she became a member of New Hope UMC  in Elkhart. Her love and relationship with Jesus Christ, her family and church were the focus of her life. Carol served in many church capacities including Women's Fellowship, Mother's Club and Church Choir. She served on many church committees and taught Sunday School. Carol led and participated in many Vacation Bible Schools.
Carol worked as a cook in the Elkhart Community Schools. She was also employed for over 20 years at W.F. Lilly Home Depot. Carol's hobbies consisted of being a homemaker, serving, reading and gardening. She was known for her beautiful flowers and wonderful cooking, especially her cherry pie. Carol loved her family and enjoyed them to the fullest. Carol is preceded in death by her parents, a stepfather Raymond Moss and her husband. In the last 16 months she lost her two brothers Larry and Timothy Clark. She is survived by her children; Michael (Cindy) Brown, Kelly (Tom) Doke and Kristen (Mel) Lenig. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Carol had a wonderful relationship with her extended family. She is survived by her sister, Cathy Zahner (Clark), stepsister, Beverly Shyrock, sister-in-law Jan (Warren) DeFoe and many nieces, nephews, cousins and loved ones.
Visitation will be Tuesday May 2, 2023 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola, IN with funeral services on Wednesday May 3, 2023 at 11 am in the New Hope United Methodist Church in Elkhart, IN. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
