Carol Sue Heckaman, 83, of South Bend, passed away on Saturday September 3, 2022 at home, surrounded by her family.  She was born on January 3, 1939 in Marshall County to Hershel and Edith (Krieg) Teel.  She married Jimmy Heckaman on June 19, 1959.

She is survived by the love of her life, Jimmy Heckaman; her son, Mark (Rose Mary) Heckaman; her daughers: Penny (Stephen) Johnson, Deneen Heckaman and Shawna Scofield; 11 Grandchildren; 11 Great-Grandchildren; 2 sisters, Beverly (Ralph) Cummins and Janet Harvey.

She was preceded in death by 2 grandchildren, Bethani White and Uriah Scofield.

Carol was a member of Ironwood United Pentecostal Church, where she enjoyed singing in the choir.  She was an accomplished painter.  She always remembered to send cards to encourage everyone.  Carol was a loving mother to her children, as well as a wonderful foster mother to 33 children over 22 years.

Friends may visit with the family from 2-4 PM Sunday Sept. 11, 2022 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home 10776 McKinley Hwy., Osceola, IN 46561.  A funeral service in her honor will be on Monday Sept. 12, 2022 at 11 AM at Chapel Hill Funeral Home.  Rev. Clinton Walker will officiate.  Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
