Carole Ann Vargo-Martin, 78, of South Bend, died Friday, August 11, 2017. She was born in South Bend on April 14, 1939 to Steve and Irene (Bralick) Vargo. Many of her childhood years were spent living in Texas and the area always held a special place in her heart. Carole graduated in 1957 from Washington-Clay High School and worked for many years as a secretarial professional, most recently at Notre Dame University until her retirement. She loved animals, searching for hidden treasures, reading, and working outside in her yard. She was a talented artist and a very creative person. Family was very important to Carole she loved her children and grandchildren dearly and was very proud of her Hungarian heritage. Carole is survived by her children, Michelle (Roger) Hedge of Lebanon, IN, Chris Martin of South Bend, and Anne (Jeff) Wiser of Sherman, TX; four grandchildren, Kyle, Danny, Sarah, and Katie; an uncle, Geza Bralick, and an aunt, Lu Pozwilka. She was preceded in death by her parents. A memorial service in Carole''s honor will be held on Friday, August,18, 2017 at 1 PM with calling one hour prior at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola, IN 46561. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
