Carolyn M. "Lyn" Murphy, age 72 of Mishawaka, passed away Monday, May 12, 2014 at St. Joseph''s Regional Medical Center. Lyn was born January 13, 1942 in Mishawaka to the late Robert and Frances (Doty) Farrell.
Surviving are her children, Michael W. Murphy of Mishawaka, Kelly (David Pinkowski) Shinall of Granger, and Mark W. Murphy of South Bend. Also surviving are 3 grandchildren; Dawn (Becky) Shinall, Brandon Shinall, and Joshua Pinkowski, along with her great grandchildren, Damon and Dylan Germano. Lyn is also survived by her sisters, Catherine "Kay" Sarber and Vicky Couch, both of Mishawaka. Her brothers, Robert Farrell III and William Farrell preceded her in death.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm Friday, May 16, 2014 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola. A private graveside service will be held Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
A 27 year cancer survivor, Lyn spent many hours as a volunteer with the American Cancer Society, the Relay for Life, and also held cookouts at Martin''s Supermarkets during their cancer awareness campaigns. She was employed for over 20 years at Martin''s Supermarket on Bittersweet Road in Mishawaka and worked in the cash office until November of 2013. She was also a dedicated and loving Mother and "Nana" to her children and grandchildren. She loved supporting and spending time with the grandchildren and she always made herself available to them for whatever they needed.
In her memory, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
