Elkhart – Carolyn M. Lane, 79, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on October 6, 2026, following a period of declining health.

Carolyn was born on June 22, 1947, in Elkhart to the late Raymond and Dorothy (Osborne) Wise. She was a proud graduate of Jimtown High School, Class of 1965. Carolyn was a woman of strong faith and was a longtime member, along with her husband, of Zion Missionary Church in Elkhart.

Carolyn met the love of her life, David Lane, and the two were married on December 21, 1970, in Elkhart. Together, they shared 55 years of marriage filled with love, family, faith, and countless wonderful memories.

Carolyn cherished her family above all else. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and proudly attending their sporting events. She and David loved traveling and had the joy of visiting all 50 states. Their adventures also included camping, boating, and riding motorcycles. Carolyn enjoyed playing cards and games with family and friends and could often be found relaxing while watching General Hospital.

Carolyn will be lovingly remembered by her husband, David Lane; daughter, Christie (Shawn) Scheidel; son-in-law, David Hill; grandchildren, Mckenzie (Nick) Hickman, Kennedy (Connor) Corl, and Hayden Scheidel; brother, Jack (Lavelle) Wise; sister-in-law, Sandie (Jack) Weiler, nieces, Lori Stork and Michelle Brown; nephew, Matt Weiler; and many extended family members and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Dorothy Wise, and her daughter, Marcie Hill.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 11, 2026, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Zion Missionary Church, 1135 E. Hively Ave., Elkhart, IN 46517.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 12, 2026, at Zion Missionary Church, 1135 E. Hively Ave., Elkhart, IN 46517. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Garden of Veterans, Osceola, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers send donations to Wounded Warriors, Veterans of Foreign Wars or Disabled American Veterans (DAV).
