Carolyn Parker Rhodes, 90, of Mishawaka, died Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at Hospice House of South Bend. The Starkville MS native was born October 23, 1923 to George W. & Lillian Carolyn (Aven) Parker. On December 24, she married Jack Douglas Rhodes in Iuka MS; he preceded her in death on November 5, 2008 after 60 years of marriage. Carolyn was a registered nurse in obstetrics & pediatrics for over 40 years, working in area hospitals until her retirement as Supervising Nurse in the pediatrics Dept. at South Bend Osteopathic Hospital. She was a member of South Side General Baptist Church, was an avid fan of Notre Dame and the Chicago Cubs, and enjoyed an occasional trip to the casinos in Las Vegas. Carolyn is survived by her children, Jack D. (Kathy) Rhodes, Jr. of Michigan City and James Timothy (Peggy) Rhodes of Niles MI; sisters, Alice (Fred) Burke and Sara Kenwright, both of Greenwood MS and Sharon Brasher of Foley AL; brothers, George (Sara) Parker of Clinton MS and Sidney (June) Parker of Big Creek MS; grandchildren, Laura Rhodes (Shasky) of Cleveland OH, Jerod (Samantha) Rhodes of Jeffersontown KY and great-grandchildren Hollis & Harper Rhodes of Jeffersontown. Funeral Services 2:00 Friday July 25, 2014 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Hwy, where friends may call one hour prior to services. Burial in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
