Carolyn F. Toombs, age 74 of Mishawaka, went home to be with the Lord at 9:50 pm Tuesday, February 26, 2013. Carolyn was born October 9, 1938 to the late Carl and Kathleen (Browning) Stafford in Mishawaka, Indiana. Carolyn was a graduate of Mishawaka High School, class of 1957. On May 24, 1958, she married Edward Toombs. They were married nearly 55 years.

Edward survives, along with their children, Douglas (Karen) Toombs of Elkhart, Russell (Darlyne) Toombs of Granger, and Steven (Maria) Toombs of Bluffton, South Carolina. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren; Aaron (Lindsay) Courtney, Kyle (Kelsey) Toombs, Casey Toombs, Kendra Toombs, Mallory Toombs, Stephanie Toombs and Brenden Toombs and 1 great granddaughter, Maddilynn Wilson. Carolyn is also survived by her sister, Virginia (Randall) Jones of DeSoto, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her half brother, Robert Browning.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 pm Friday, March 1, 2013 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola. Pastor Leroy Wise will officiate the 11:00 am funeral service on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at the Osceola United Methodist Church, 431 N. Beech Road, Osceola, Indiana 46561. Interment will follow in the Garden of Liberty, on the grounds of Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, Indiana.

Carolyn was a member of the Osceola United Methodist Church for several years, serving as the co-chair of the Care Committee, with the Family Life Committee, and playing in the handbell choir. She also was a member of the Red Hat Society, enjoyed scrapbooking and card making. She was a master gardener, and in the spring and summer, Carolyn enjoyed spending time in her lovely flower gardens.

In her memory, donations may be made to the Osceola United Methodist Church Building fund.
