IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Catherine Margaret
Foerster
February 4, 1941 – June 11, 2025
Catherine Margaret Foerster, 84, of Granger, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Catherine was born on February 4, 1941, in Mishawaka, IN, to the late Felix and Celeste (VanDriessche) Varda. She graduated from St. Joseph High School, Class of 1959. She went on to work for many years at Patrick Metals, where she was known for her dedication and work ethic.
A devout born-again Christian, Catherine's faith was the cornerstone of her life. She married the love of her life, Tom Foerster, on July 31, 1991, in South Bend, Indiana, and together they shared 33 wonderful years of marriage. Catherine found joy in the simple things — gardening, golfing, sightseeing, and, most of all, spending time with her children and grandchildren. Catherine had been an active volunteer at Busy Hands of Michiana for 20 plus years in South Bend, IN.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Tom Foerster; her children: Greg (Jeanette) Bashore of LaPorte, Cynzia (Dale) Hardy of Port Charlotte, FL, Carey Foerster of Columbus, Amanda (Josh) Cowins of Indianapolis, and Thomas Foerster of Indianapolis. She was a proud grandmother to 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Catherine is also survived by her brothers: Lester (Doris) Varda of South Bend, and Larry (Barbara) Varda of Elkhart; her sister, Norma Spychalski; and many cherished nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, with Reverend Greg Crump officiating.
Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home, Osceola, IN, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Catherine's love, faith, and gentle spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.
Psalm 23
King James Version
23 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
