Charles Harry Blair, 81, of Mishawaka, passed away at 4:23 am, Friday, May 09, 2014 in his home surrounded by family. Charles was born on May 13, 1932 in St. Francis, KY, the son of the late John Z. and Mae Clara (Downs) Blair. On April 14, 1956, he married Barbara A. Carrico. Charles is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Barbara; their six children, Lou (Keith) Johnston of Mishawaka, Susie (Tim) DeVreese of Mishawaka, Charlie Blair, Jr. of Mishawaka, Frank Blair of Osceola, Chrissy (Ron) Blair-Whitt of South Bend and Lenny Blair of Mishawaka; 13 grandchildren, Jenifer Smoker, Jeremy Johnston, Joshua Johnston, Justin DeVreese, Angela DeVreese, Travis Blair, Trenton Blair, Rebecca Kater, Joseph Blair, Lenny Blair, Jr., Tara Curless, Nick Levan, and April Blair; and 13 great grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Mary (George) Heissenbuttel and brother, Burt (Marlene) Blair. He is preceded in death by his parents and seven siblings, Nolan, Warner, Larry, David, Robert, Grace and Haline. Charles proudly served his country in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict before his honorable discharge in 1954. He was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Charles hobbies included mushroom hunting, watching baseball, playing country music on his guitar, hunting, and restoring antique cars. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 am, Monday, May 12, 2014 in Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 4508 Vistula Road, Mishawaka with one hour of visitation prior. Rev. John Eze will officiate. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Chapel Hill Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
