Charles D. "Denny" Hiatt, age 61, of Mishawaka, passed away at his home on Friday, November 1, 2013. Denny was born November 15, 1951 in South Bend, Indiana to the late Charles E. and Doris (Hoot) Hiatt. On December 13, 1969, he married Judith Morningstar in South Bend, Indiana. They celebrated 44 years of marriage.
Denny is survived by his wife Judy of Mishawaka, and their three children; Jeff Hiatt of South Bend, Tracey (Jason) Hanks, and Jill (Jason) Wilson, both of Mishawaka. Denny is also survived by his grandchildren, Joe Howe, Brenden and Alicia Wilson. Surviving as well are his siblings, Tom (Karen) Hiatt, Rick Hiatt, Scott (Marcia) Hiatt and Linda (Jerry) Dudeck.
Visitation will be held from 3-7 pm Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola. Funeral Services will be held at 11 am Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, with interment to follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Denny was employed for many years as a machinist at Dodge Manufacturing and later at Superior Piece Parts in Mishawaka. In his younger years, he volunteered his time with the Mishawaka Civil Defense.
Denny was an avid fan of sports. He coached baseball at Northside Little League in Mishawaka, and was a long time and devoted Chicago Bears fan. He also enjoyed spending his time at home with his family. In his memory, donations may be made to the Food Bank of Northern Indiana; 702 Chapin Street, South Bend, Indiana 46601.
