Charles S.E. King Sr., age 86 of Elkhart, passed away Thursday, September 20, 2012 at the Courtyard Healthcare Center in Goshen. Charles was born September 15, 1926 in Elkhart, Indiana. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII, and was honorably discharged in 1945. On May 22, 1958, Charles married the former Ms. Barbara Robinson in Elkhart. She preceded him in death, passing away in March of 2012.
Surviving are their children, Thomas King of Hawaii and Charles (Jackie) King, Jr. of New York, Mary E. King of Elkhart and Patricia (Scott) Rice of Shipshewana, IN; 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Harvey King in 2002.
Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service at 2:30 pm, Monday, September 24, 2012 in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Chapel Hill Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Charles was employed by Elkhart Rubber Company for 39 years until his retirement in 1991, and was also a longtime volunteer with the Concord Fire Department.
