Charles Arlow Nelson, 72, of South Bend, entered into eternal rest on February 24, 2022. He was born on March 16, 1949 in Mishawaka, IN to the late Ed and Iolene (Beebe) Nelson. Charles loved farming and driving his semi. He was a very simple man who enjoyed the smallest of things. His family meant the world to him! Charles graduated from Penn High School in 1969.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Edward Nelson.

Charles is survived by his son, Marcus (Tina) Nelson; daughter, Jennifer (Nelson) Bates; step-son, Tony Maez; step-daughter, Kim Maez; brothers, Bill (Judy) Nelson, Tom Nelson, and Rusty (Barbra) Nelson; grandsons, Michael Bates II, Christopher Nelson, Jordan (Fatima) Bates, Coleman Maez, Jeremy Williams, Jr., and Marquis Bates; great grandson, Elias Bates; and great granddaughter, Alayna Bates.

A Memorial Visitation will be held on Friday, March 4, 2022 from 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM at Chapel Hill Funeral Home,10776 McKinley Hwy., Osceola, IN 46561. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Humane Society of St. Joseph County. Face masks are required to enter the funeral home.
