Charles Russell Yoakam, 79, of Elkhart, Indiana, passed away on December 10, 2020 at Elkhart General Hospital with his family by his side.

Charles was born on November 30, 1941 in Lima, Ohio to Katherine (Zimfer) and Russell Yoakam. On August 6, 1958, he married his wife of 62 years, Linda (Holderman) Yoakam. She survives along with their daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen (Yoakam) Mangona and Richard Mangona, as well as grandchildren, Nicholas and Sophia, all of Goshen, Indiana.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Kate and Russell Yoakam, as well as his brother, Raymond Yoakam.

In his early years, he worked at Nickles Bakery. He then worked at Miles Laboratory/Bayer. He retired from Bayer after 33 years of employment. He also worked for Mittler Welding Supply on a part-time basis.

He was an avid outdoorsman. He loved fishing, hunting, archery and shooting sports. Throughout the years, he was a member of the Elkhart Conservation Club, as well as the Edwardsburg Conservation Club.

He and his late brother, Raymond, shared the love of Model Railroading and shooting sports. The love of these hobbies will continue on through his grandson, Nicholas.

He joined the Elkhart Model Railroad Club in the 1980s and was the longest member of that club.

He was also a member of SASS (Single Action Shooting Society.) He competed regularly in Cowboy Shoots in Bristol, Indiana.

"Charlie" made friends wherever he went. He was loved and respected by many. He was just a "great guy" and will be missed by all who knew him. He was adored by his wife, daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren. They will carry him in their hearts forever.
