Charlotte L. Trout, age 92 of Elkhart, IN, died at 2:40PM in Mishawaka, IN on January 12 th , 2022.
She was born on May 29 th , 1929, in Sioux City, IA to Robert and Edna (Swenson) Thompson. She attended the Sioux City Public Schools and graduated from Central High School.
She married Claire Jack Trout, of Kingsley, IA on August 4 th , 1947, in Elk Point, South Dakota, while he was serving in the US Army at Ft. Lewis, WA. They lived in Tacoma, Washington until 1949, when he was discharged. They lived in Sioux City, IA until 1951, when they moved to Aurora IL with their two children, Rick and Wanda.
She worked for Wayne Circuits Electronics for several years, until they moved to Elkhart, IN in 1978. Her Husband Jack died in 1981.
She was employed by Polytron Electronic Corp. of Elkhart IN for 32 years from 1979 to December of 2011, starting as a tester of electronic timers, and later became the Supervisor in the Test Department.
She was a member of the Grace Family Fellowship Church in Elkhart IN and enjoyed helping in many of the activities there. She was strong in her faith and was an inspiration to many who knew her.
She was a 35-year cancer survivor and enjoyed volunteering at the Elkhart Cancer Society. She also enjoyed helping others, and baking desserts for Faith Mission and the Concord Volunteer Fire Department.
She enjoyed music, Adventure Movies and the Science Fiction and the Discovery Channel Programs, Highway to Heaven as well as Christian Movies and spending time with her family. She loved to read and write poetry. She had a poem "A Change of Heart" published (2009) in the book "Great Poets in the Western World". She also had three poems published in the "Poetryfest Book".
She was preceded in death by her Husband, Jack: three brothers Roland Thompson of Jefferson, South Dakoda, Walter of Sioux City, Iowa, and Henry of Missouri, 4 Sisters, Roberta Monahan of Ohio, Lenore Limoges and Eileen Golden, and Eleanore (Red) Bertrand, all of Sioux City, Iowa.
She is survived by her son Rick and (Cindy) Trout of Bristol, IN, her daughter Wanda and (Mike) Bratcher of Mishawaka, IN, four Grandchildren, Jennifer (Bob) Montel of Cassopolis, MI, Marcie (Steve) Gerstler of Granger, IN, David (Beth) Trout of Edwardsburg, MI and Matthew (Jilian) Gierden of Parkland, FL.
She has 11 Great Grand Children, Morgan Otolski, Cheyanne Montel, Madison and Ethen Herman, Hanna and Sam Gerster, Makayla, Michael, and Caiden Trout, and Justin and Liam Gierden; 1 Sister-in-Law, Margaret Thompson of South Dakota and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Sunday, January 16, 2022, 6:00 – 8:00 PM, at Chapel Hill Funeral Home 10776 McKinley Hwy Osceola, IN 46561. Funeral will be Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at 10:00AM.
Will be officiated by Pastor David Howe of Grace Community Church. Burial will be in the Chapel Hills Cemetery.
