Chester W. Buse, 93, a former South Bend resident, died Friday, March 13, 2015 in St. Joseph, Michigan. Chet was born in St. Joseph on February 4, 1922 to William & Minnie (Wick) Buse; both have preceded him in death. He was a US Army veteran of WWII and had retired from the Indiana Toll Road. Chet was a 32nd degree Mason and he was an aviation enthusiast who enjoyed fishing & playing cards with family & friends. In addition to his parents, Chet was also preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara Buse; his brother, Lester and also by Diane Hutchins. He is survived by his son, Don (Marta) Busse of Bakersfield CA and their children, Tylar & John; daughters, Deborah Mack of South Bend and Diane (Daniel) Pitmon of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Kenneth (Ali) Mack of Granger, Jennifer (Sam) Ochstein of Mishawaka and his great-grandchildren, Tayler & Ellie. Also surviving is Odell Salach of St. Joseph, to whom Chet was formerly married, and her children; Linda (Stanley) Masters of St. Joseph, Paula (Eric) Burkhardt of West Newton, Mass and Pamela Salak of Portage MI. Friends may call from 1-2pm Wednesday, March 18, 2015, in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Hwy. followed by an opportunity to share memories & celebrate Chet''s life at 2:00.
