Clara Marie Johnson, age 74, of Elkhart, passed away Saturday, November 7, 2009 at Elkhart General Hospital. Clara was born June 28, 1935 in Muskegon, Michigan to the late Andrew and Ora Rose Thorson. On October 12, 1952, Clara was united in marriage to the late James F. Johnson, who preceded her in death, passing away in 1995.
Surviving are her children, James Johnson of Texas, Dwight Johnson of Elkhart, Andy Johnson of Elkhart, Scott Johnson of Elkhart, Rick Johnson of South Bend, Kathy (David) Aumack of Elkhart, and Kim Walters of Elkhart, along with 25 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. Also surviving are 3 sisters, Bonny Thorson of Osceola, Margaret Pressey and Mary Lou Tibbits, both of Muskegon, Michigan. Preceding Clara in death was her son, Dan Johnson, her daughter, Terri Braun, her brother Charles Thorson, and her sisters, Nancy Lubert, Anna Stone, and Betty Huntley.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 pm Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola. Pastor Rick Pirtle of the Riverview General Baptist Church in Elkhart will perform the 2:00 funeral service on Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
Mrs. Johnson was a homemaker. She enjoyed reading, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
